Unauthenticated data access via backslash path traversal
Published Apr 5, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Path traversal in CData Sync before 23.4.8843 allows remote attackers to bypass authentication and access sensitive data. Jetty accepts backslashes in crafted URI paths, while Sync servlets process the paths against web.xml mappings without explicit session checks. Exploitation requires the Java edition on embedded Jetty and knowledge of backend endpoints; a crafted request can expose settings or perform limited actions.
