CVE-2024-31848Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Administrative takeover via backslash path traversal

Published Apr 5, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Path traversal in CData API Server before 23.4.8844 allows remote attackers to gain administrative access through crafted HTTP requests. Embedded Jetty accepts backslashes in URIs while CData servlets process them as traversal separators, bypassing web.xml security constraints and explicit session checks. The Java edition must use Jetty, and unauthenticated access to known backend endpoints grants complete application administration.
