Authenticated arbitrary file deletion via path traversal
Published Apr 29, 2024 · Updated Aug 24, 2026
Arbitrary file deletion in Ecommerce-CodeIgniter-Bootstrap before commit d22b54e allows remote authenticated users to delete server files. The removeSecondaryImage method joins unvalidated folder and image POST values to the shop-images path and passes the result directly to unlink(). Low-privileged administrative access and an AJAX request are required; public evidence demonstrates arbitrary file deletion, not the reported code-execution chain.
