Authenticated PHP code execution via unescaped language keys
Published Apr 29, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Code injection in Ecommerce-CodeIgniter-Bootstrap allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary PHP code through crafted language keys. The saveLanguageFiles method places php_keys POST values inside single-quoted PHP array keys after htmlentities, which does not escape apostrophes, then writes the generated PHP into a language file. Access to the administrative language editor and a valid session are required; revisiting the language page loads the file and runs the injected code with the web application's privileges.
