CVE-2024-31810Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Root shell access via hardcoded Telnet password

Published May 13, 2024 · Updated Mar 28, 2025

Hard-coded credentials in TOTOLINK EX200 4.0.3c.7646_B20201211 allow remote attackers to obtain a root shell over Telnet. The firmware stores a reusable root password hash in /etc/shadow.sample; the disclosed password authenticates successfully to the device's port 23 service. Network reachability to Telnet is the only reported gate, and successful use grants unrestricted root command execution on the extender.
