Continued account access via stale session
Published Apr 16, 2024 · Updated Aug 22, 2024
Insufficient session expiration in PublicCMS 4.0.202302.e allows remote authenticated users to retain access after an admin resets the password. The password-change path updates the account credential but does not invalidate the user's existing authenticated session, which remains authorized until its normal timeout. Exploitation requires a valid session before the administrator changes that account's password, after which actions remain limited to the account's assigned permissions.
