CVE-2024-31756

Local privilege escalation via kernel handle leak

Published May 21, 2024 · Updated Feb 13, 2025

Kernel handle leak in Hw64.sys in Marvin Test Solutions Hardware Access Driver 5.0.3.0 and earlier allows local users to escalate privileges. The driver exposes its device to every local user and leaks kernel handles that can be reused from processes already communicating with it. Low-privileged access is sufficient, and successful exploitation grants higher privileges on the local system.
