Terminal output manipulation via unescaped DWARF strings
Published Dec 17, 2024 · Updated Dec 18, 2024
ANSI escape-sequence injection in Rizin before 0.6.3 allows attackers to manipulate terminal output through crafted DWARF strings. The DWARF attribute reader copied untrusted strings without escaping control characters before meta_set stored them as analysis metadata. Opening a crafted binary and displaying its metadata lets embedded terminal sequences alter rendered output; no shell-command execution is established.
