Notice dismissal via missing nonce validation
Published Apr 15, 2024 · Updated Apr 28, 2026
Cross-site request forgery in Favicon by RealFaviconGenerator 1.3.29 and earlier allows remote attackers to dismiss admin notices. The process_ignored_notice() function accepts a settings-update request without correctly validating a WordPress nonce before changing the stored notice state. Exploitation requires an administrator to follow a crafted link or take an equivalent attacker-induced action; the demonstrated consequence is limited to dismissing plugin notices.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
