CVE-2024-31413

Arbitrary code execution via invalid pointer free

Published May 1, 2024 · Updated Mar 14, 2025

Memory corruption in OMRON CX-One and Sysmac Studio allows attackers to execute arbitrary code by opening a crafted project file. Shared Common Components code frees a pointer that no longer addresses the start of its allocated buffer while processing project data; OMRON has not identified the module or function. Execution requires a user to open the file on a Windows workstation and runs with that user's privileges, enabling compromise of the engineering environment.
