System-wide data disclosure via MQTT wildcards
Published May 15, 2024 · Updated Aug 7, 2025
Incorrect authorization in Cyber Power Systems PowerPanel Business before 4.9.0 allows remote authenticated users to read system-wide MQTT data. The MQTT topic authorization logic fails to block wildcard subscriptions, allowing a client authorized for one device to subscribe across device topics. Access to any managed device is sufficient; the documented consequence is cross-system data disclosure without modification or interruption.
