Server crash via null-byte upload path
Published Jun 12, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Denial of service in Strapi before 4.22.0 allows remote authenticated users to crash the server via a crafted media upload. The local upload provider passes a filename-derived path containing a null byte to createWriteStream, and the resulting exception escapes request handling. An account with media-upload permission and a specially crafted multipart request is required; exploitation halts development and production instances until manual restart.
