Remote code execution via traversable image upload paths
Published Apr 10, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Unrestricted file upload in Traccar Server 5.1 through 5.12 allows remote attackers to write files outside the media directory. The device image upload API derives its destination from a device unique ID and a Content-Type-controlled extension without fully rejecting traversal sequences or restricting image types. Default self-registration supplies the required account, and file placement enables code execution, stored XSS, or disk exhaustion; some execution paths require a login or reboot.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
