CVE-2024-31213Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Credential phishing via unchecked post-save redirect

Published Apr 5, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Open redirect in InstantCMS 2 before 2.16.2 allows remote authenticated users to send profile editors to an attacker-controlled site. The profile-edit flow accepts a protocol-relative back query value and uses it as the post-save destination without restricting redirects to the same origin. Exploitation requires a signed-in victim to open a crafted edit URL and save the profile; a convincing destination can then capture credentials the victim enters.
