CVE-2024-31163Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Administrative remote code execution via unchecked string copy

Published Jun 14, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Stack-based buffer overflow in ASUS Download Master 3.1.0.113 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute system commands. The dm_apply.cgi handler copies attacker-controlled dm_ctrl and task_id values with strcpy without bounding the destination buffer, allowing the saved program counter to be overwritten. Administrative credentials and network access to the Download Master web interface are required; successful exploitation executes commands on the router.
