CVE-2024-3116Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Authenticated code execution via untrusted utility path

Published Apr 4, 2024 · Updated Mar 14, 2025

Remote code execution in pgAdmin 4 8.4 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to run code through binary-path validation. The /misc/validate_binary_path endpoint passes a user-selected storage path to get_binary_path_versions(), which runs matching pg_dump-family files with --version without excluding uploaded executables. An account able to upload a suitably named executable and submit the path can execute it as the pgAdmin process; the demonstrated path is practical on Windows, while Unix-like hosts require executable permission.
