CVE-2024-31073

Local privilege escalation via unsafe DLL search

Published May 13, 2025 · Updated Feb 26, 2026

Uncontrolled DLL search path in Intel oneAPI Level Zero before 1.5.4 allows local users to escalate privileges through library loading. On Windows, the loader used LoadLibrary without limiting resolution to System32, allowing an attacker-controlled DLL earlier in the search order to load. Exploitation requires low-privileged local access, high-complexity conditions, and user interaction, and grants code execution with the affected process's privileges.
