Contributor-level code execution via unrestricted insert_php shortcode
Published Jun 15, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Code injection in Woody Code Snippets 2.5.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute PHP via insert_php shortcodes. The legacy shortcode handler processes shortcode body content as PHP without restricting its use to highly authorized roles. Contributor-level access is sufficient to run arbitrary PHP in the WordPress server context, enabling control over site data and behavior.
