CVE-2024-3104Network attack vector

Remote code execution via unsanitized environment serialization

Published Jun 6, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024

OS command injection in Mintplex Labs AnythingLLM before 1.0.0 allows remote attackers to execute code through the update-env API. The dumpENV helper in server/utils/helpers/updateENV.js serializes attacker-controlled values into single-quoted .env entries without rejecting line breaks, quotes, backticks, or comment markers. The CNA assessment requires user interaction but no privileges; injected commands run with the service account's access and can read or modify its data or interrupt the service.
