Admin account creation via mutable multi-user setting
Published Apr 10, 2024 · Updated Aug 21, 2024
Improper input validation in Mintplex Labs AnythingLLM before 1.0.0 allows remote authenticated users to obtain unauthorized admin access. SystemSettings.updateSettings accepts the protected multi_user_mode key from generic settings input and writes false to persistent settings without excluding that key. An administrator-level session can therefore disable Multi-User Mode and create a replacement administrator account without supplying a password.
