CVE-2024-31007Public exploit

Application crash via crafted PSP file

Published Oct 21, 2024 · Updated Oct 21, 2024

A buffer overflow in the formats.dll plug-in for IrfanView 32-bit 4.66 allows local users to crash the application via a crafted PSP file. The PSP loader copies file-controlled data without confirming that it fits the destination buffer, causing an out-of-bounds write. Exploitation requires a user to open the file, and the documented consequence is termination of the IrfanView process rather than code execution.
