CVE-2024-31005Public exploit

Process crash via null language pointer dereference

Published Apr 2, 2024 · Updated Mar 13, 2025

NULL pointer dereference in Bento4 1.6.0-641 allows remote attackers to crash mp4fragment with a crafted MP4 file. While constructing an output track, AP4_MdhdAtom passes a null language pointer to strlen, causing a read from the zero page. Exploitation requires mp4fragment to process attacker-controlled media; public evidence demonstrates process termination, not arbitrary code execution.
