CVE-2024-31002Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Code execution via out-of-bounds bitstream read

Published Apr 2, 2024 · Updated Oct 28, 2024

Heap buffer overflow in Bento4 1.6.0-641 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code by supplying a crafted MP4 file. The AC-4 dac4 atom path calls ReadBits until AP4_BitReader::ReadCache reads one byte beyond a 16-byte heap buffer. The file must reach mp42aac or another application using this parser path; the published proof demonstrates a process abort, while the CVE record states code execution.
