Account takeover via unsanitized notification name
Published Jun 25, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Stored XSS in Emby Server 4.8.3.0 allows remote authenticated users to gain administrator privileges through a crafted notification. The notification-creation handler stores HTML and JavaScript from the FriendlyName field without neutralization, and notifications.html renders it. Exploitation requires a low-privileged account and an administrator to view the notification, exposing the administrator token and enabling an account-policy change.
