Service crash via freed substream container access
Published Apr 2, 2024 · Updated Oct 31, 2024
Heap use-after-free in Bento4 1.6.0-641-2-g1529b83 allows attackers to crash mp42ts by processing a crafted media file. AP4_SubStream retains a reference to its container byte stream, but mp42ts frees that stream before AP4_File teardown makes the substream destructor release it. Exploitation requires mp42ts to process the crafted file and terminates that process through an invalid heap read.
