Process crash via freed stream dereference
Published Apr 2, 2024 · Updated Oct 30, 2024
Heap use-after-free in Bento4 1.6.0-641 allows context-dependent attackers to crash mp42ts with a crafted MP4 file. Mp42Ts.cpp deletes the input AP4_FileByteStream before destroying AP4_File, while AP4_UnknownAtom retains the stream pointer and calls Release through that dangling reference. The file must be processed by mp42ts; the demonstrated outcome is an AddressSanitizer-detected process abort, with no supported confidentiality or integrity impact.
