Authenticated command execution via unneutralized ntp_server
Published Apr 3, 2024 · Updated Mar 13, 2025
Command injection in NETGEAR R6850 firmware 1.1.0.88 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute commands via ntp_server. The firmware passes the ntp_server configuration value into an operating-system command without neutralizing shell metacharacters. Exploitation requires low-privileged access from an adjacent network and grants command execution with the firmware service's privileges.
