CVE-2024-30401Network attack vector

FPC reboot via aftman buffer over-read

Published Apr 12, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Out-of-bounds read in aftman in affected Juniper Networks Junos OS 21.2, 21.4, 22.1, and 22.2 releases allows remote attackers to reboot the FPC. The aftman interface-definition code reads beyond a buffer boundary and produces a stack-based buffer overflow. Exposure is limited to specified MX Series line cards, MX304, and EX9200-15C hardware, and the documented consequence is an FPC reboot without confidentiality or integrity impact.
