Routing daemon restart via malformed BGP attribute
Published Apr 12, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Improper input validation in Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows remote attackers to restart rpd via a BGP update. RPD accepts a tunnel encapsulation attribute containing a specifically malformed TLV without rejecting it, then crashes and automatically restarts. Reachability requires an established BGP session with the target; the resulting service interruption affects routing-protocol processing.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
