Memory disclosure via malformed CPAL color records
Published May 15, 2024 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
Out-of-bounds reads in Adobe Acrobat and Acrobat Reader 20.005.30574 and 24.002.20736 and earlier allow attackers to disclose process memory. The CoolType OpenType parser accepts a CPAL table whose largest colorRecordIndex plus numPaletteEntries exceeds numColorRecords, then reads past the color-record array. A victim must open a PDF containing the crafted font; the disclosure can expose ASLR-related addresses, with no reported write or code-execution impact.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
