Stored cross-site scripting via unsanitized admin settings
Published Apr 4, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in Announce from the Dashboard 1.5.2 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through admin settings. The plugin accepts administrator-supplied announcement settings without sufficient input sanitization and renders the saved content without adequate output escaping. Administrator-level privileges are required, and exposure is limited to multisite installations or sites where unfiltered_html is disabled; injected scripts execute when a user opens an affected page.
