CVE-2024-3029Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Administrative takeover via error-triggered user deletion

Published Apr 16, 2024 · Updated Aug 9, 2024

Improper input validation in AnythingLLM before 1.0.0 allows remote authenticated users to delete users and obtain administrative access. The enable-multi-user handler parses the request body before checking the existing mode, so malformed JSON reaches error cleanup that deletes all users and disables multi-user mode. An existing low-privileged session and user interaction are required; exploitation removes every account and permits control through a replacement administrator account.
