CVE-2024-30254

Arbitrary file overwrite via unsafe archive extraction

Published Apr 4, 2024 · Updated Aug 26, 2024

Path traversal in JCWasmx86 MesonLSP before 4.1.4 allows attackers to overwrite arbitrary files through a crafted project archive. The extractFile routine joins archive entry names to the output directory without rejecting dot-dot components or secure symlink traversal. Exploitation requires a victim to run the language server in the crafted project or invoke mesonlsp --full, enabling writes outside the intended extraction directory.
