CVE-2024-3017

Gateway service interruption via corrupt RCP pointer

Published Jun 27, 2024 · Updated Sep 16, 2025

Out-of-bounds read in the multiprotocol RCP path in Silicon Labs Simplicity SDK before 2024.06.0 allows attackers to crash OTBR. A corrupt pointer to buffered RCP data is consumed by the host-side OpenThread Border Router application task, which terminates the task. The attack requires adjacent-network access to a Zigbee-and-Thread multiprotocol gateway and causes a temporary service interruption, with no reported data exposure or modification.
