Security Zone bypass via path equivalence

Security feature bypass in Microsoft Windows allows local users to evade Security Zone Mapping through a crafted path after user interaction. Microsoft identifies improper resolution of path equivalence as the root weakness but has not disclosed the exact path form or mapping routine involved. Exploitation requires a user to interact with attacker-supplied content, after which zone-based protections are bypassed and confidentiality, integrity, and availability can be affected.
