Application hang via Kestrel Core deadlock
Published May 14, 2024 · Updated May 3, 2025
Race condition in Kestrel Core bundled with affected Microsoft .NET and Visual Studio releases allows remote attackers to hang applications. Microsoft has disclosed only that Microsoft.AspNetCore.Server.Kestrel.Core.dll can enter a deadlock, not the request or synchronization error that triggers it. Exploitation is unauthenticated over a network but requires high-complexity conditions, and the reported consequence is an application hang.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
