CVE-2024-30045Network attack vector

Remote code execution via Double.Parse stack overflow

Published May 14, 2024 · Updated May 3, 2025

Stack buffer overflow in Microsoft .NET 7.0 and 8.0 allows remote attackers to execute code through a crafted value parsed as a double. The Double.Parse routine overruns a stack buffer while converting attacker-controlled numeric text. Exploitation requires user interaction and reaches code running under the affected application, including vulnerable runtimes bundled with Visual Studio or PowerShell.
