Remote code execution via OLE DB use-after-free
Published May 14, 2024 · Updated May 3, 2025
Use-after-free in the WDAC OLE DB provider on affected Microsoft Windows builds allows remote attackers to execute code through user interaction. The provider reuses memory after it has been freed, but Microsoft has not published the triggering OLE DB input or affected routine. An unauthenticated attacker must induce a user to process attacker-controlled content; successful exploitation runs code in the affected process context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
Public exploit references
No public exploit references are available in this record.
Labels summarize the accepted research assessment. They do not indicate a test against your environment.
