CVE-2024-29894Public exploitNetwork attack vector

User impersonation via unescaped JavaScript messaging variables

Published May 13, 2024 · Updated Feb 13, 2025

Cross-site scripting in Cacti before 1.2.27 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript through a crafted template filename. The raise_message_javascript function in lib/functions.php embeds title and header variables inside single-quoted JavaScript strings without JSON encoding, so single quotes in the filename break into executable code. Template-import access is required; injected code runs in the browser processing the failed-import message and can change settings under that session's authority.
