CVE-2024-29859Network attack vector

Arbitrary file read via unchecked upload path

Published Mar 21, 2024 · Updated Aug 5, 2024

Improper file validation in MISP before 2.4.187 allows remote attackers to read arbitrary server files through the event import endpoint. The add_misp_export method passes the submitted tmp_name path and size directly to FileAccessTool::readFromFile without first validating the path. The published assessment requires neither authentication nor user interaction, and access is bounded by the MISP service account's file permissions.
