CVE-2024-29489Public exploit

Engine crash via prematurely collected proxy object

Published Mar 28, 2024 · Updated Aug 22, 2024

NULL pointer dereference in JerryScript 2.4.0 allows local users to crash the engine by executing crafted JavaScript. During a Proxy get trap, ecma_proxy_object_get calls attacker-controlled code without retaining the proxy object, so garbage collection can free it before ecma_get_object_type dereferences it. Execution of the crafted script is required, and the demonstrated consequence is an engine process crash caused by an invalid read.
