CVE-2024-29461Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Network disruption via duplicate datapath ID handshake

Published Apr 12, 2024 · Updated Mar 17, 2025

Denial of service in Project Floodlight Floodlight Controller 1.2 allows remote attackers to interrupt forwarding via a duplicate datapath ID. During the OpenFlow handshake, the controller accepts a new switch's already-registered datapath ID and disconnects the legitimate switch bound to that ID. The attacker must reach the OpenFlow service and emulate a switch; repeated handshakes drop traffic handled by displaced switches.
