CVE-2024-29415Public exploitNetwork attack vector

SSRF via incomplete IP address normalization

Published May 27, 2024 · Updated Feb 13, 2025

Server-side request forgery in Fedor Indutny IP 2.0.1 and earlier allows remote attackers to reach private hosts via crafted IP addresses. The isLoopback and isPrivate routines incompletely normalize shorthand, octal, and IPv4-mapped IPv6 forms, while isPublic negates their result and labels those private destinations public. Exploitation requires a consuming Node.js application to trust this classification when filtering attacker-controlled outbound request destinations, permitting requests to internal or loopback services.
