Authenticated code execution via unchecked file renaming
Published Apr 22, 2024 · Updated Nov 5, 2024
Unrestricted file upload in moziloCMS 2.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute uploaded files by renaming them after upload. The upload path rejects configured filename extensions, but the rename POST path passes the requested new name to moveFileDir without rechecking its extension. Administrative Files access is required, after which malicious content can be stored under an executable extension and run by the web server.
