Stored script execution via unsanitized widget identifier
Published Mar 29, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in aThemes Sydney Toolbox 1.26 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through widget identifiers. The plugin accepts the widget _id attribute without sufficient input sanitization and later renders it without output escaping, preserving attacker-supplied script in a page. Contributor-level access is required to create the payload, and the script executes in a visitor's browser when the injected page is opened.
