CVE-2024-29216

Low-privilege firmware alteration via underprotected IOCTL

Published Mar 25, 2024 · Updated Nov 7, 2024

Insufficient access control in Sangoma Technologies cg6kwin2k.sys before 2.1.7.0 allows local users to alter hardware firmware. The Windows CG/MG driver exposes a specific IOCTL to non-administrator callers and uses crafted requests to perform I/O against arbitrary hardware ports or physical addresses. Any local low-privilege user able to open the driver interface can erase or alter attached-device firmware; no remote path or direct code-execution consequence is reported.
