System takeover via unvalidated server certificates
Published May 7, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Improper certificate validation in Ubiquiti UniFi Connect products allows attackers on an adjacent network to take control of affected systems. The EVCLauncher application accepts a server certificate without proper validation, enabling man-in-the-middle attackers to alter downloaded information and, when chained with another flaw, execute code in the application's context. Exploitation requires adjacent-network access but no authentication or user interaction; code execution depends on a vulnerability chain.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=3.10.7

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
