CVE-2024-29184Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Administrator escalation via uploaded signature script

Published Mar 22, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Stored XSS in FreeScout before 1.8.128 allows remote authenticated users to gain Administrator access through a crafted signature. The signature field retains a script tag referencing a JavaScript file uploaded through /conversation/upload, so the same-origin source bypasses the script-src CSP. A Support Agent account and an Administrator viewing a conversation are required; the script can submit authenticated profile changes and promote the attacker's account.
