CVE-2024-29179Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Stored XSS via extensionless attachment rendering

Published Mar 25, 2024 · Updated Apr 10, 2025

Stored XSS in phpMyFAQ 3.2.5 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript in another user’s session via an attachment. Extensionless uploads bypass the HTML-extension check, and the server publishes the file at a predictable MD5-derived path that browsers render as HTML. Administrator privileges are required to plant the payload, and another user must open the attachment for script execution in that user’s session.
