Remote code execution via malicious server response
Published Apr 9, 2024 · Updated May 3, 2025
Stack-based buffer overflow in Microsoft OLE DB Driver for SQL Server allows remote attackers to execute code via a malicious server. The driver writes server-supplied data beyond a stack buffer while processing a response, but Microsoft has not identified the affected parser or field. Exploitation requires a client application to connect to an attacker-controlled SQL Server and process its response; successful exploitation executes code in that application's context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=16.0.0 <16.0.1115.1
